thermostatic valve question??

A user on YouTube mentioned incorrect temperature reading when placed on top. The radiator creates heat which travels up and thus heats the valve which in turn could show incorrect temp reading and you would have to adjust for that. That would be especially the case when you have a window-sill or something atop covering the radiator. Since the heat can't travel upwards it will eventually travel sideways until it finds a path to go up. That sideways travel will cause the TRV to show hight temp.

The only con I see, is small babies being able to tinker with it when placed at the bottom.

I have all my TRVs installed horizontally on the rad returns as I think they measure the air temperature more accurately installed this way.
