Thinking of removing the chimney breast in my 1930 house

I am planning to remove the chimney breast in my front room and the upstairs room. My next door neighbour (adjoining wall) has had hers removed from all the rooms. I know that it will require a supporting beam. Any advice and the cost of such a job would be appreciated.
