What are you putting it onto, brick, block,,, is it a high suction background??? How thick are you putting it on? If the background has a lot of suction/or is very dry, the plaster will crack as the moisture is absorbed too quickly into the substrate,, it needs prep first, to control the suction.
Too much heat will do the same by drying the plaster to quickly causing it to shrink and crack.
The same thing will happen if you put the float coat plaster on too thick, too soon ,,, it will slump and crack. It's always better to put on a couple of thinner coats, scratching as you go, rather than one thick heavy coat. Tell us a bit about what you're doing.

hardwal hates thermalite, I hate the smell, are you floating it or just edging it up? i heard ther are 3 bags of bonding outside b and q

its for low suction backgrounds, thats why its still there, i know a girl that works in b and q, shes from a very high suction background ;)
