I have an old Thorn K50 boiler that has decided that it will only start when it wants to. There seems to be no reason or pattern to why it fails to ignite. Despite changing igniters, fuel pumps, fuel filters etc it can run for days and then not ignite, then the next day, or next cycle, off it goes quite happily burning. Very puzzling Outside air temperature, humidity, etc etc don't appear to be playing a part. I haven't been able to track down any literature about this boiler so am now at my wits end.

Is this the one where the burner points downwards?
They were prone to photocell problems I think - and the flue tends to clog up pretty quickly.
John :)
