Hi,

I recently made a beginners mistake and disconnected a ceiling rose without taking note of the wire positions and now I can't figure out how it should be connected.
The photos attached to this post show the ceiling rose (the original one which worked before I disconnected it) and the switch (I haven't touched this so it's just the ceiling rose that needs attention).
These are from a porch - the left switch button should operate the ceiling rose, the other one operates the outside porch light.

I don't fully understand the significance of the yellow wire other than its a switched live.
I'm quite certain the two red wires in the ceiling rose were connected to the block so can anyone suggest how this wiring is intended to work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alan

put the two reds in the center terminal of the rose, currently where the yellow wire is and the yellow wire in the terminal next to the brown flex. the yellow wire should have some red sleeving on it to identify it as a phase / line / live conductor.

you DO realise that he's trying to swap the ceiling rose for the new fitting that requires the bar?

the yellow is the switched live and the black and blue are the neutrals

in which case connect the earth wires to earth, the black and blue to N and the yellow (with red sleeve) to L on the new light

on the picture with the switch, you could with putting a earth wire(yellow and green) between the switch and the box in the wall(if it is metal)
