I'm in the process of laying a slate floor and have sealed them before laying them. According to the instructions on the tile sealer the coverage rate is around 10 sq metres per litre. However, I'm getting something like 10x this rate so I must be doing something wrong!

The instructions state that it should be applied as thinly as possible with a cloth or roller with any surplus wiped up immediately. So I am not sure what else I can do. It dries on the slate within 15 to 30 mins.

I got the sealer from B&Q but I cant see it on their website (their search engine is useless). However it is similar to this:

If anybody had any suggestions/ideas I would be grateful.

don't fret some slate tiles are super rough and so absorb more, if yours are honed or just slightly smoother than others it will affect it dramatically.

That said an extra few coats won't hurt to be on the safe side.
