tiling front of house

hi guys,in looking to tile the outside of my house with slate tiles,the problem is the ones I really like say for interior use.
the area will be about 2m sq and will take any foot traffic into my house and neighbours house.
its pretty uneven so will be using a morter mix to lay the tiles.
been looking at porclien tiles but the ones ive seen are all smooth and that's not what I want.
was thinking putting these down,then seal with some kind of sealer that would be used in showers,then grout with morter.
what are the pitfalls with snow/ice /rain if any please.

you need outdoor paving surely?

be warned though - black slate stains very easily from mortar (difficult to point) and it doesn't stay black once sunlight gets to it.
