Hi,
I have a downstairs bathroom where I want a raised tiled shower floor. Wetroom style. The room is 1m wide and the raised shower (which will have a screen) will be about 1m deep. I am going for a simple linear drain with a single horizontal drop to the back of the shower where the drain will be. The raised shower floor will be built up with treated wood and Marine Ply.
Looking at the wetroom floors I amazed that I single drop floor was £500. The question I have is whether the floor board is really essential? Could I not angle my floor/ply appropriately and use a then screw cement board over the top. Once the whole lot is tanked and tiled I fail to see why this would be any less water proof than the purpose built boards?
Any other ideas or explanations as to the cost would be greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Jon
