I want to put ceramic floor tiles on top of 1930's red quarry/porcelain tiles. Can I do it and what adhesive type is needed ??
I am told that I may have to key the tiles or dig them up !!!
I am loathe to do that (thinking about future owners wanting to restore the original tiles).
Regards.

Clean them well - u can get a tile cleaner from a tile shop. For ceramic tiles, use cement based ceramic floor tile adhesive. Shouldn't be any need to key it up , especially if the tiles differ in size - grout joints work as a key. If you 're worried , paint on a slurry coat of cement and Bal bond as u go.
