Hi,

Quick question... on two walls of our bathroom we want to tile the bottom 2/3rds and paint the top 1/3. The whole walls are covered with cement backer board (hardibacker I think).

My question is can I do the tiling on the bottom 2/3rds then get someone in to plaster the top 1/3 or will they need to do the whole wall.

Is there any preferential way of doing this?

Yes, but it might be easier if you get the top area plastered first and feather the bottom edge of the plaster away to nothing. Then when you tile, you will slightly overlap the bottom of the plaster. Doing it this way, will ensure you get a good finish where the tiles meet the plaster.
