Tiling a breeze block wall

I have done a search for this topic, I find posts regarding tiling over tiles etc, but not blocks.

My downstairs shower room has block walls, with dot & dab standard plasterboard, covered with large 18 x 10 tiles, fixed with wickes floor & wall adhesive. The cement type stuff.

I`m re-tiling. If I rip the boards off, can I tile over the lightweight breeze block, or would it be better to tile over tile?

after ripping all out, re board and tile onto that
