Tiling Kitchen Floor

Hi All

My OH has come up with tiling the kitchen floor. Lifted lino to see the state of floor boards. The floor has old style 8inch x 8inch vinyl tiles stuck. Tried lifting them proving difficult. Can I ceramic tile over vinyl tiles. Some adhesives are so powerful they stick like s...t. I am not going to attempt if it won't work.

You can tile over these kind of tiles, but is the subfloor wood? notice you refer to floor boards?

if so you will need to overboard the floor with either ply or backerboards. have a search on here for tiling over wood.
