Done a bit of tiling over the years never any problem. Am stumped with this one. has anyone ever, or know if you can tile over a shiny black laminate splash back currently on the walls. Seems like a lovely flat surface and is well fixed(presumably) with NMN. Will tile adhesive stick ? can you pva it or sand it to make it stick. Probably pull 1/2 the wall away if I have to remove. personally I would just leave it but OH hates it and has now bought £130 worth of bl...... tiles.

Any help would be very welcome.

Yeah you can tile onto it. Make sure it's spotless then tile using a decent tile adhesive - like Bal Blue Star or Bal White Star. Then leave for 3 days to set up - this is because the surface you are tiling onto is non-absorbant and will take a while to go off. Then you can grout.

jabber - to ensure the splashback is "spotless" (as per gcol's advice) and clean/grease free use a sugar soap solution ... forget all these fancy kitchen surface cleaner.
