Hi
I have a laminate 6mm splashback all around the kitchn, same colour as worktop but its too much as its black and making the kitchen dark, im keeping the worktop as its only a small flat and fairly new, can i tile over the laminate, as long as i rough it up i presume?

This seems to be an issue more normal for the USA!
I think in the UK we are more likely to have plastered walls and a small upstand, tiles or even glass.
Hence, if you Google 'tiling over laminate backsplash', there are a load of ideas from the US such as:
https://todayshomeowner.com/how-to-tile-over-a-plastic-laminate-backsplash/amp/

So, as you say: Clean and sand.

As an addition, there are products to improve surface adhesion before tiling, such as:

There could be other options, like gluing a glass splashback to it, or even removing it alltogether.
