Hi,

Is it possible to tile straight onto floor boards if I screw them all down? The reason I asked is I do not have the room underneath my UPVC front door to ply as well. I am tiling my hallway and removing all floor boards and replacing them with ply or chipboard would be too big of a job. :s

Help please !

P.s I thought about maybe using self levelling screed ?

In a word.................No.

Take up the floor boards and replace with 18mm ply.

the thinnest thing that will work is a backer board. 6mm. if you use no more ply you glue and screw this down, then use a flexi adhesive on top.

not sure if even this is too thick but might be worth a check.

Replace the f/boards with wbp ply 18-25 mm thick,.....seal underside and edges with primer ....screw down every 150mm onto joists( wats the joist spans)....tile away...
