Could i use 8mm ply to tile on if the floor was already lined with chipboard .
Also where i join to lengths of ply, what can i do with the join to prevent tiles cracking when laid?

Use 12mm ply screwed down every 200mm,stagger the joints and this should eliminate cracking grout (provided you use flexi adhesive and grout) check out gcols sticky for indepth info :D

yeah sorry, just seen the sticky.
I will basically have one joint in ply across room, so cant stagger it? Should i start the tiling from the join so no tiles go over it?
