I will be tiling a utility room shortly, and later on tiling the kitchen with the same tile (600x600 porcelain), and I'm wondering how to treat the connecting doorway. The utility is approx 3.5m by 2m with the door in the long side. The kitchen will be approx 3.5m by 8.5m, with the connecting door on the 3.5m length. I imagine that a continuous run of 8.5+2.0 is too long without an expansion gap? How would you suggest treating the doorway? Is it too adventurous to aim at continuing the tile straight through, or is it better to have some form of threshold, possibly incorporating expansion gap?
