I am tiling my kitchen at the moment and after seeing the following post I decided to give it a go on the external corner of some boxing in of pipes in the corner.

Although it took a few goes to get the technique right for cutting the tiles, I am very pleased with the result. I am now contemplating using this technique for dealing with the external corners when tiling the window reveal.

However I for see a problem in that the tiles going up the reveal no the wall will need to be cut before the 45° angle is put on the tile. I find all cut edges have micro fine chipping of the glazing. Some experimentation suggests that using 400 grit wet and dry sandpaper wet, and I can polish up the edge of the tiles to get a perfect cut edge. Which I could then put a 45° angle on ready to do a mitred corner.

Two things concern me though. Firstly the cut edge is glaze free and a different colour so will the grout be enough to cover this up? Secondly how well do external mitres hold up over the long term to abuse?
