I'm building a stud wall in a kitchen and want it t be a feature wall - a timber clad wall. Q is: do I go to the effort of putting up plaster board first as per usual practice and clad to that of is it a waste of time and money and just go straight to the cladding without any PB?

Thanks for any help.

This could well be personal choice.
By adding the plasterboards you will increase the depth of the wall which could effect door frames.
But plasterboard will give an extra skin of fire resitance to the adjoining wall and little more sound proofing.
