Insulating summerhouse (during build)

Sorry, yes. If you are having a gap - have it on the cold side. Definitely also look at the SIPS option if you have the access. I didn't

All the vaulted ones do yes.
And why don't the other ones?

I'll tell you, because they don't need one.

Whether a timber frame needs a vapour membrane is a matter of design, construction and use. A timber shed-like building does not need one because there is no persistent condensation risk.

Are you suggesting garden offices are unoccupied, are bereft of things like kettles and heating, or are only used when it's warm outside?

I'm asserting not suggesting that a kettle and a little heater in a timber shed/office/summerhouse/gym/playroom/chilloutzone is not going to have the timber rotting any sooner than the normal expected life of that timber building.

the normal expected life of that timber building.
And there is the crux. Folk are paying many more £££'s per meter these days for their garden rooms. Long gone are the glorious days of a sneaky cheap sherry in the potting shed.

Mine was approx £300/㎡ I over did the groundwork and the insulation but with inflation I think I could do it again for £400.

You can save a lot by making your own windows using double glazed units and buying used doors. I saw a nice one in John-lewis the other day which was 18k and not particularly well insulated. That is without Services.

meanwhile getting back on topic LOL
After lots of reading I am starting to worry that if I dont line at least one side with obs the frame will flex too much.
But I also read about using metal building straps on the diagonals to cure that.
So I am going ( at the moment) of building the walls out of 4x2 using the metal straps for rigidity then wrapping with tyvek.
Putting vertical batons on the struts (600 centres) then cladding it.
then if needs be I will line the inside with obs ( would rather not though)
I am starting to cost it up and will cost on the above option and then again with obs. Then I will also do a costing for sips.

One other thing, I know that there is a height limit of 2.5m. But where is that measured from?
My summerhouse will be on a slight slope, do I measure from the the highest piece of ground or the base of the summerhouse?
I wondered if the starting point was the ground or the base of the summerhouse? Its all a bit ambiguous!

Thanks again
