I am going to batten a wall for my bathroom and will use aquapanal as the backer board. What kind of timber do I need for the job ?

25mm x 50mm tanolised roof battens.

...Or consider 19mm x 38mm if you want to save a bit of space but lose stiffness.

Ooer.

Thanks noseall. Do you know where I can get tanolised roof battens ? Are they available in wickes/b&q etc? Or will I need to go to a builders merchant ?

They are a very common stock item for any timber or builders merchant. I would image b and q and the like must have them.

Thanks. What about screws ? What size screws should I use to batten the wall ?

Probably 75mm #5's, 7mm drill bit and brown plugs or similar depending on the masonry.

You may get away with shorter slimmer screws if the masonry is solid.
