Timber lintel above UPVC window

I have just had an old timber window replaced by a upvc window. Upon removal of the old timber window , i have seen the lintel above to be a timber type one (old stone house)
Now when sealing the gaps between the UPVC window frame and the gap i was planning on using expanding foam as all 3 sides are stone/brick etc.

Can i use the expanding foam at the top as well ? (in the gap between the lintel and top of UPVC frame)
