Timber roof lantern

Has anyone ever made a timber roof lantern?

I'm trying to find out how the lead is fixed over the ridge

I've done a few over the years.
By "how to fix over the ridge" do you mean the junction between the exsisting ridge line and the sides of the lantern?
If it is then it's pretty much treated as any wall abutment with a variety of details but usually starting with a saddle up against the lantern. I've seen the sides of the lantern covered completely with lead, or vee jointed boards covering the lead. I've also seen a groove cut into the timber as one would do with brickwork and mastic filled.

Its the ridge detail as in this image

Imagine the lead only over the ridge - without the finials and that other cover piece on top of the ridge

I would presume that the lead is not just draped over the ridge timber as otherwise it may get blown off. So I wondered how the lead was secured

I've seen lead fixed by using straps in lead, copper and stainless steel , fixed to the frame and dressed over the bottom edge of the flashing. I've also seen the flashing fixed in pieces and the joints welted , the lead can be nailed on the lower piece before the welt is dressed and finally I've seen the lead simply fixed through the face and lead caps or domes burned into place over the fixings.

I thought I had better thank you , rather than incur the FMT wrath

I will be doing it in timber, but I had thought of some sort of mopstick ridge which the lead could be dressed to, but wondered if the just the curve alone would stop uplift
