Yes, I usually take dead load for a timber floor as 0.5.

Quite correct, and you got me thinking; got out my old BS 648 and checked the weight item by item.
Still comes to < 0.6 kN/sq.m., even with a few nails thrown in. OP would still be OK with C16 IMO.
I did try - must have got it wrong...
