How do I catch a Rat with killing or hurting it.

I just want transport it to a wood far enough it can't find it's way back.

Taking it out of its own territory, will be a death sentence..

There is definitely, never only 1 rat.

Be careful there are laws for how you are allowed to do this

Your correct but I only ever see one so they are clever.

It may be a death sentence but at least I'm giving them a chance

Grass/soil was dry enough to get the tractor out on Thursday, to cut the grass, I got most of it done and got to the section at the very back. Laid upside down and dead was a rat, right in the middle. I've never, ever seen one before here, but there are certain to be loads around, with a nature reserve on the right and lots of railway waste-land at the back, beyond my rear fence.

Our cat used to bring us dead rats - after she had eaten all four legs off of them!

Buy or build a trap.

I didn't want the dog getting it, so I picked it with a spade, and flung it over railway's fence. She's on a bit of a diet, so might have been tempted.
