To prime or not to prime?

Ahead of getting my double glazing fitted, I’m getting the window sills and pillars ready for painting. I’ve scraped off, wired brushed and sanded down the flaking paint and now I’m a bit stuck as to where to go next.

It's all a bit patchy - in some areas where the paint has come off completely, I’m left with bare concrete. In other areas the old (gloss) paint remains.

Before painting with masonry paint, do I need to prime or undercoat? I seem to remember that when I did some exterior painting earlier this year, all I could find were undercoats for gloss/for wood & metal (whereas I'm using Sandtex fine textured masonry paint).

Oh and if I do need to prime/undercoat, can you recommend a product?

Anyway, any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
