My close-coupled toilet refuses to flush and I believe that the diaphragm has failed.
Looks as though I will have to break any unions and remove the cistern from the wall before I can replace the diaphragm. Any experience? Any advice?

Seemed a little harsh to the original poster there whatever you had said!

If it looks as though you will then you will.

Any experience?
Get yerself a Dudley Turbo (or equivalent) so that you can maintain the siphon in the future without repeating all the same work.

You might want to use a new doughnut when refitting the cistern.

Use brass screws to affix the cistern to the wall.

Any advice?
Be kind to your mother and to small animals.

Vote with your heart.

Start each day as if it's on purpose.
