Toilet drainpipe leak repair with a liner?

Discovered a leak under the kitchen floor of a 1934 house - floorboards covered in square of hardboard? then lino. A gully of water underneath!
The plumber identified water seeping through bricks from the toilet drainage pipe at ground level. Lifted the sewage cover in the garage and he thinks it is water seeping back from where the short bit of right angle pipe meets the drainage channel. Sealed it with some epoxy but not well in my opinion - didn't clean it properly. Ordered some Bostik Cementone to do it myself better.

My question is, if the doesn't work what about one of those epoxy inserts that get inflated or similar? One foot would be enough to cure? Is there a DIY way? Cant see any point in paying hundreds for such a small bit.

I'll get a photo tomorrow but it looks like the attached, the drainpipe also runs into the same sewage channel.

Not a diy job but I had it done at my old house and it worked well saved a lot of digging up.

Watched how they do it on Youtube. Overkill for my short length. Was thinking maybe a flexipipe to take effluent further down the sewer channel. Sealing the edge would be the problem.

Insane prices being quoted for liner. £160 to stick a camera up a pipe plus £500 for just a short length "patch". Plumbers £60 an hour, more than teachers, nurses, dentists etc. I had the wrong job.

And they are only charging £160 to use the camera, cheap!

We can't do everything but that's no reason for excessive labour costs. Actually my old school dad did do everything - electrics as well. Electrician said his work was fine. £160 for sticking a camera up a pipe! Can buy a magnificent one for that.

Recouped after a year. We all need cars or vans. And that price is for any small job not the complicated stuff. People on low incomes like me cannot afford those prices. Which is why I do most stuff myself. But many can't.
Gross income at £60 an hour 37.5 hours = £117,000. Half would be just as nice. £25 an hour = £48,750. A new teacher gets £15-£18 = £30,000+ about the same as a nurse.

You don't need an £8000 camera! Complicated jobs would demand high costs but £60 an hour is for changing a tap!

And she could buy a £40000 van. How much are your tools Andy ? Including machines and cameras? this must run into 10's of 000s?

My tools are insured for £7000. I'd imagine that's not enough if my van was stolen.

We don't get pensions sick pay or school holidays. We have to wipe our own arse, and have a little more than a pencil case to take to work with us.

If you can't be bothered then you need to pay someone skilled to deal with your shįt.

Try not to share your snobby attitude with the trades you hire.

Or you could just end with a pushfit plumber with an estate car and a suitcase.

Seems you've had a plumber alike already. Get him back and I'm sure he will only charge you £30
