My 30 year old float valve (bottom fill) is making a terrible whine after flushing a during refill. Assuming that it is the whole unit and not the diaphragm washer that needs changing. Is it OK to replace it with a compact Fluidmaster type valve ie. I don't have to source an old fashioned valve with arm and ball type.
