Hi, my toilet wont flush very well. The handel is loose and you have to sort of pump the handle quickly to have a chance of a flush.

Anyway. I cant see online is its best to replace the syphon like for like.

Replace for a (more modern?) drop valve ?
Such as attached?

Should i Replace the fill whilst im at it?

Whole bathroom is old and due a complete refurb in a few years time anyway.

Thanks in advance you clever people as always.

Syphon/drop valve doesn't matter. All it needs is a syphon washer.

What matters more is that your cistern appears to be close-coupled so the cistern has to be seperated from the pan.

Sometimes they go back together easily and leak-free, other times you end up having to replace the close-coupling kit and doughnut washer as well.
A squodge of silicone/CT1 may help

Good luck!

You have a 3 part syphon, very easy to strip down and fix.

Nope, I was wrong, I was looking at the dirt thinking it was a 3 part syphon.

Cistern needs removing.

Wasnt aware you could just replace the membrane. To be fair, as its out. I might as well change that whole part, right?

And for a few quid, new do'nut kit..... belt n braces

You can indeed just replace the membrane, little else to go wrong with them, sometimes the plastic rod snaps

No real need to replace TBH if you can get the membranes and it can be fixed. If it's all out though then your call
