Hi,
Thanks for this. The metal nut has actually been tightened up in the image. When I undo the metal nut it goes down to where the arrow shows in the attached image and no further, the plastic tube seem to go down a little further and I cannot get it out.

You either need to have a little free play in the feed pipe below the fitting to pull down or loosen the cistern to lift it up and off the inlet feed pipe..
