Thanks I did wonder if I'd be best of going with a new toilet. Due to its age. Or is it usual just to replace the syphon.

If your toilet is a 9 litre flush then it will flush better than anything else you can buy today.

Syphon is fine if it is otherwise in good condition.

I think it is a 9 litre flush yes. These new syphons have internal overflows how are these set? Obviously the toilet has an internal overflow at the moment.

When you buy the sysphon, read the instructions.

The only other thing that looked in sign of stress was the pan connector. Though it isn't leaking

I actually recommended the fluidmaster but the old one (not that old) one was 2" so had an adapter as on the link earlier. The new donut washer was not the correct shape but i bodged it. That comes from experience unfortunately.
