Hi all,

Just moved in and we are totally redoing the bathroom. Currently beside the toilet there was a boxed in/tiled over pipe as shown in pics. Is the anyway that this set up can be changed or removed.

Seems such a stupid set up.

Most things can be done with a bit of effort and expense. If you're keeping the WC you'll need a soil pipe somewhere though.

There is always a way, but you have to ventilation to the pipe and part of the the stack is routed internally, so to have the the stack totally outside would require a bit of work, bu not undoable!

What's below the wc location? You'll need to break out the internal stack at a lower position and come back in through wall to connect to that pan. Depending on where you sewer is below, you could dig into and bench off of it with a new external stack and cap off the existing one in the floor of the bathroom!

Yeah me thinks moving the stak my be more trouble than it's worth. I take it the outlet could be turned 45 degrees to accommodate a corner pan just connecting straight onto it. BTW Just noticed your a fellow Ulsterman.

Sewer option is out due to is location, also the kitchen is right below the WC (The waste pipe is actually boxed in at the corner of the kitchen) but other issues outside kake moving the stack a pain.

Can you get it all under the floor? Are joists favourable to you?
If not the other option would be to bring a branch across the ceiling in the room below, pop it up to wc location above and box it in! Or you could buy a back to the wall pan with concealed cistern and bathroom furniture carcasses where the soil can be hidden within!

Was just browsing Vic Plum there and looking at that exact option, being lazy it looks like the best option lol

If you get one unit for the pan and a cupboard one to the right, to match, you can cut the back out of it to wrap around the soil and with some clever use of shelving and a bit of kick board in the same style, you can hide all the waste and have somewhere to keep your spare bog rolls and, err, magazines
