Hi you plumbers out there i've got a bit of a problem, every time i go for A No 2 it doesn't flush away first time round it takes about 2-3 times before it goes.

Is it the toilet as in not a powerfull flush or my No 2s too big, ?

Or plain bad design of pan. Some are hopeless, and there's no cure
It's like the waterways are too wide, so there's no speed to the flow.

I has this problem with my 2nd toilet and it seem to works quite well, I put a 110mm > 82mm reducer from the toilet pan (a long story, couldn't get the fall ratio under the floorboards), when flushed the water, it doesn't rush out straight away therefore filling the toilet pan slightly then the whole lot rushed out giving a good flush!

to me a standard syphon is rubbish when used with a 6 litre cistern, drop valves seem to produce a higher velocity to the flush and clear the pan more effectivly.

Know what you mean about the drop valves, but some pans are so bad you can tip a bucket of water down them without clearing. Early on in my change of career I had a Portuguese one which had beaten 3 plumbers so I was determined to make it work. Failed!

Masona's solution I can see working - has the merit of being cheap too! Sometimes you get the behaviour as a side effect of using contorted flexible pan connectors.

You have not told us the very important fact we need !

Was it always like this or has something in the toilet changed?
