Tommy in trouble with far right.

Oh, you meant lebanon then?

Palestinians can't vote for the Knesset. Israel is a deeply flawed democracy. There's a reason so many assessments consider it an apartheid state.

It still doesn't really matter, but the number of made up facts that care coming out on this thread is silly.

Israel is not the only democracy in the middle east.
With a population of over 2 . 5 million non Jews mainly Arabs who are mainly Muslim do get to vote if and when they are voting age.

... Isrrael is a democracy
democracy- a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Who is not eligible?
The following groups are excluded from voting rights in Israeli general elections:
  • Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem Most have permanent residency but are not citizens. They can obtain citizenship, but most choose not to for political reasons.
  • Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza These populations are not Israeli citizens and are not eligible to vote in Israeli general elections.
  • Non-citizen foreign workers and asylum seekers These individuals do not hold citizenship and cannot vote.
Only 66% of israel area allowed to vote in General Elections.

They can't vote in a general election, only local administration elections.

If they have Israeli citizenship. and the majority do. Not only can they vote in any election they can stand as a candidate themselves.
Usually there's around 20 Israeli Arabs in the Knesset although I believe it's currently down to about 12.

Acquisition of Israeli citizenship in East Jerusalem has been scarce, as only 5% of Palestinians in East Jerusalem were Israeli citizens in 2022, largely due to Palestinian society's disapproval of naturalization as complicity with the occupation. Israel has made the process more difficult, approving only 38% of new Palestinian applications
Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza cannot currently obtain Israeli citizenship
So nearly 6,000,000 in gaza and West BAnk are denied Israeli citizenship.
Add another 300,000 East Jerusalem Palestinians who don't want Israeli citizenship because they view Israel as an occupying power.

So of the 10,000,000 in Israel and Palestine, over 6,000,000 can't vote.

Some democracy, eh?

Since when has Gaza and the West Bank been in Israel and why on earth would they want or apply for Israeli citizenship?

So they have the same rights as Israelis to occupy Gazan land. (y)
Israel gave Gaza to the Palestinians. Israel even dug up the dead. They left a thriving economy and a infrastructure to keep that economy thriving.

Gave it to them? You mean they let them borrow their own land for a little while.
I suppose on what side of history you believe.

Its not that I remember but I believe that the Romans named Palestine a good time after Judea already existed.

It means they withdrew all Israeli settlers so only Palestinians remained. Prior to 1967 Gaza was part of Egypt.

Syria Palestina., it was after a Jewish uprising against the Romans.

I can't see "quote" in your thread heading.

As I said, you published the slogan.

The initial post (by me) clarifies the source of the quote. Oddly enough, the thread seems to have gone, any ideas John?
I'm delighted it has gone btw, carry on with the cleaning up operation, you and Odds have left quite a trail behind you.
