I have never used Tool Station. What are the views of those who have used both, in price, quality etc.

never had an issue with delivery always been before 12 noon.
but the trade counter another issue.

don't help with 90% being diyers and want to look in ever box before picking what one they want.

i've used toolstation online a lot (for diy needs) and found them to be quick, always arrived next day, also only 10 quid spend needed for free delivery

Does anyone have a view on the quality of the no-name products?

Surprisingly good. Almost everything Toolstation sell is cheaper than SFX. The range isn't as wide, but I only ever go into SFX for specific items nowadays.

The cheaper compression joints from screwfix are just not worth the bother as they continually leak. I had one which had a slit in the brass casting of 15mm tee. I only buy the Conex they sell. Cheap compression joints are just not worth the bother being false economy. Tool Station only sell the cheaper sort, which is off putting. Some of the Tool Station power tools look like they would only last a week and are clearly DIY. Not that I am in the market for power tools.

TS is owned by the travis perkin group, I think a lot of the silverline and non brand stuff is rubbish, but you cant knock it for a lot of things.

They have the handy web facility of checking whats in stock before you go. also you can buy online and then pick up in store.

the TS in bristol is run by a load of poles or it used to be.

plus they do a price guarantee, including deals of the web, which is very useful.

Screwfix also say they will match or better any other price.

A builder friend tried that against the next door Toolstation but the staff member refused. He complained to their HQ and the staff member came and apologised and they gave him a small gift.

I used to have severe problems with waiting time for COLLECT orders at SF and I complained to their HQ. They waited a day but did really do something about it.

However, whilst the manager always serves me immediately and knows me by name, his guys dont and they still make me wait too long while in many cases they are just assing about.

I was so surprised when I went to Tool Station for the first time. I did have to wait about five minutes to get served but they were very polite and friendly unlike anyone in Screwfix. SAt least they have got something right!
