Top/bottom composite door

Hi, does anyone know if it is normal to not have any protection on the top and bottom of a composite door. Should there not be some trim or something? If yes, is this done during installation or the manufacture of the door? Attached is photo of my recently installed door. Thanks.

The term "composite" covers a lot of different types. Yours seems to be "plastic". If it was a partially timber door I would be concerned but I don't think it is. That said, someone with better knowledge than me will respond in due course.
 
It's just a standard GRP composite door. The one with foam inside and GRP on outside
 
That looks like reconstituted wood to me...in which case , if its solid and you cant pressbit with your finger , yes that is how they come. ( it's hard to tell from the picture.)
