I seem to have a different problem to everyone else.

The bottom filling Torbeck valve in the cistern has stopped filling and is only allowing a dribble of water through.

Sometimes after the toilet is flushed, turning on a cold water tap elsewhere in the house will start it filling, but other wise it just sprays a small amount of water from the small hole thet the float closes against when it's up.

Any ideas anyone?

torbeck valves can clog up very quickly, turn off water and dismantle it clean out the flaky bits and reassemble.
when that fails replace the unit with a proper valve you didn't say if it was side or bottom entry

for a good bottom entry type try the Fluidmaster they are very good

It was a bottom entry

I cleaned the filters in the upright and replaced the pressure reducer with the HP one. All seems fine now thanks.

We've had nothing but problems with these Torbecks since we've been in the house 3 years ago. I think I'll take your advice and get some Fluidmasters ready for when they go next time!
