torbeck valve sticking/ sixe??

i need to renew a bottom fed torbeck valve.
the measure to top of water level is 8and a half inches.
could someone please tell me if this equates to the sixe of the torbeck valve.

No. It doesn't. You measure the valve from the inside base of the cistern to a point level with the centre of the blue nut.

You probably have an 11.5" Torbeck.

i agree.bought a 9and half inch one which was too small.
couldn't see a larger one at b and q or in screwfix book.
found a replacement washer and it seems to have done the trick.
was only going to replace the gubbings that come off with the nut, however the new one didnt have a pin to locate the washer, so bought a replacement washer.

You should be able to take the entire valve assembly from the brand new valve and simply fit it to your old upright :D

ahh right.
i didn't open the pack to find out.
i'll leave it as it is, because it seems to be working ok.
but i'll keep an eye on it.
