The touch pad on my laptop is not working, I have to use a mouse.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> double click 'Mouse' and check the settings there, it may have been set to disable the Touch Pad.
Hi Man, when you say it ist working, what exactly do you mean, is it erratic etc????
As previous chap says, go to the mouse settings and check from there, does the nipple on the keyboard work (if avail)
Whats the age of the system also and the warranty!
Also, go to the compaq web site and try updating the drivers as well mate, could be an option.
