I am about to replace an ordinary bathroom radiator with a towel radiator.
My question is I have to wrap ptfe around the thread of the radiator tap valve and then tighten with a 13mm key into the radiator inlet (1/2inch bsp), how do you judge how much ptfe to use to make a good watertight seal?

Use more than enough, so that it is bloody tight just before the threads reach their 'end stop'.

Use gas ptfe and a smear of jointing compound

Or use lotite instead. A recent addition to my repertoire - works a treat![/url]

Thanks for the replies and I take note of care required.
