Train Stabbings

When you board the Eurostar to/from France, also on long-distance and high-speed trains in Spain, all passengers must go through a security checkpoint before accessing the platform.

This process involves: Luggage Screening: All luggage, including hand luggage, is passed through an X-ray machine, similar to airport security but typically much faster and less stringent (e.g., no liquid restrictions). Personal Screening: Passengers generally walk through a metal detector arch.

I guess this is a result of risk assessment (eg Eurostar are trains through channel tunnel, internation border, so obvious reasons; in Spain i guess its following a past train bombing (the 2004 Madrid train bombings) and as a way to help prevent future terrorist attacks

If more attacks happen in UK, we may see this happen in future, pretty impossible to police all trains and all stations, but could be for the main intercity lines..
Or we could lower wealth inequality and thus poverty.

And invest in the criminal justice system so people who crimes see their case brought to court in a couple of weeks not years

So what?

What possible significance is there in how their names sound to you?
Quite a lot of significance, I am sure the security forces are equally interested in that as well. You lefty's are the reason why we have a major problem on our hands today.

Israel has the same. Detection equipment at every train station. Modern tech modern infrastructure. We are just way behind in this country. We are going backwards while the world is going forward.

A necessity in Israel. I remember when I left to return home in 77 I had to drop my luggage at the El Al office in TLV 48 hours before departure, they searched it in my presence. In the room where I stayed I had an old grenade casing that I used as a candle holder, I threw it in my rucksack a week earlier without really thinking about it.
That caused a bit of a stir.

really

the Conservatives have been in power for 68% of the time, and in case you have a short memory for the longest recent period 2010 to 2024

so how are leftys the problem?

It is the politicians that make the rules and so the majority of the blame can be put on them of course. The view of the ordinary people is a major concern (Leftys) as they are more open to turning a blind eye towards the obvious and to go along with it, this then creates an open cheque book for the politicians to introduce even more ridiculous rules. The right view is more open to criticising the politicians rather than to go along with it and to not allow it.
