Can anyone help?

In my kitchen I have low voltage lights. There are 5 x 50W lights fed by a single transformer. They are on a suspended wire track system. Switching is two way with a dimmer and a normal switch. It was installed professionaly about 7 years ago but has recently developed a fault.

When the lights are switched on they come on at full power (or at whatever level the dimmer is at) - however after about a minute or two they drop to about 30% brightness and altering the dimmer has no effect. If they are switched off and turned on again they will go back to full brightness but again drop back as before.

Where is the fault - is it with the transformer, the dimmer or something else?

Many thanks

After 7 years could well be the dimmer. Try swapping it over with another or replacing it.
