Hi, I have a builder later on today removing part of my cement asbestos barn, and sealing the stuff up in bags. But won't take it away, he says. So I have arranged to take it to a local dump myself, pre booked and what not. My question is, is it safe to take it in my car? I'm a little worried I might contaminate my car with the stuff, not to mention being sealed in the car with it. I don't have a roof rack or a trailer. Any advice? I assume he'll double bag it and water down and what not, is that enough to be safe?

Don't blame him!

It is your barn and your responsibility. Neither of you are likely to be licenced to carry hazardous waste in any case.

Shifting it by car sounds a bit weird but i guess if you involve any kind of van or truck then it will be classed as trade waste.

There are companies that deal with this kind of thing wholesale but are very expensive.

The other alternative is to hire an asbestos skip?
