I wonder if anyone can help me this. I have acquired a piece of driftwood approx 60cm long x 12cm wide and 5cm thick which is to be used as a rack for dried flowers/herbs. It will be purely ornamental.

I'm not sure how to treat the driftwood before bringing into the kitchen - I'm worried about introducing woodworm or some other infestation. A neighbour advised me to wipe it down with Turpintine but that doesn't seem like enough.

Any advice gladly received.

Thanks

George

Hi Richard

I've no idea as it was given to me by a neighbour who found it on a beach in Wales. It is in decent condition. Since posting this thread, I have found a site that recommends soaking for 3 or 4 days in a mixture of 9 parts water to one part bleach. I've decided to have a go at this and see how we do.
