Hi, first post so please excuse any errors. Seen a similar thread on this but was prompted to start something new.

The t-valve is so blocked with limescale that even soaking overnight in HG professional limescale remover, the controls are still stuck.

I’ve got two replacement cartridges to load but I can’t even disassemble the t-valve for limescale.

Does anyone have any good suggestions or is it no longer salvageable? Really don’t want to put in a new shower unless I have to.

When mine have been really tight, to free them up I've given them a soaking with WD40, wrapped the handles in tape/rag and used a pair of mole-grips/stillson wrench to loosen them. Never had them that tight that I couldn't shift them.

Thanks for your reply Mottie. I'll give that a try. According to the assembly notes, you can disassemble the t-valve in order to replace the cartridges. I have 2 new cartridges but I cannot free the handles downwards. It's as if there's a pin holding them in but it's not obvious where. Any clues?

The top one comes up and the bottom one goes down. The handles have a slot in them that slides over the pins. I've replaced practically everything on mine over the years but never those cartridges. IIRC, those pins can fall out so make sure you have the bath plug in!
