There are 2 filters - 1 at the tank and 1 in the pump.

and when the one in the pump gets full of crud you then have a goosed pump.
a filter before the pump,at end of pipeline then filter then hoses to pump,will mean if you do get crud in line it will choke filter,starve pump and lockout,have a spare filter on site at all times. change filter and you are back up and running
spare nozzles would also be a fair idea too

The filter near the boiler should be a paper element type. If you have a sight gauge on the tank the problem may have been caused by water getting in the top of the pipe. I wouldn't bother with having a spare nozzle, 1) these shouldn't need changing for years, 2) you need to check the combustion if you do change it, 3) the new one could be wrongly marked or faulty. If the existing one works, it doesn't need changing.

The tank does have a sight guage pipe but it has never worked plus I have just noticed that it DOES have water in the pipe. The valve at the bottom of the sight guage pipe appears to be open.
