I have the same type of heater but is connected to two switches. Each immersion is connected to a seperate switch. I have just moved to this flat and don't know what's the best practice to use it. I have read in the forum the the lower on is the main one which is connected to Economy 7 and is on only over night to use cheap electricity but I don't have economy 7 meter. Should I leave that always on?

hi hamed.can you post pics of electricity meter/s together with fuseboards ( consumer units ) and the hot water cylinder and switches to enable us to advise you.

Hi and thanks for the prompt reply.

having a problem with detail in pics ( my kit !!! ) anyway I am assuming the following , let me know if I am wrong, the cyl is direct ( only the electric elements can heat the water.) no gas boiler. you only have 1 electric meter and 1 consumer unit ( electric fuseboard)....if all above is correct the 2 immersion heater elements work independently of each other ,and you have no cheaper " off peak electricity" . I assume you switch them on manually ( you may have a timer but I don't see one ). the higher element will only give you small amount of hot water ,sinks and basins ,the lower will heat the whole tank, for baths...so how you best use the system ....depends on how much hot water you need. do you live alone ,family with 6 kids. do you have a shower and never use a bath full. in a nutshell ,trial and error as to how long you need to leave on for / top or bottom for volume . hope this makes it a bit clearer for you.let us know if you want more help
