Tried to change light fitting, now half my lights don't work...

I tried to change my light fitting today. Everything seemed to be okay - I checked that the light had been wired in correctly by turning the fuse on before I attached my fitting to the ceiling. However, the new fitting I bought has less space for the wires compared to before, so I had to push wires into the ceiling a little a bit.

After that, when I tried turning the lights back on, nothing worked, and it also took out the lights in both bedrooms, the hallway, and the bathroom. The living room lights are still working.

Does anyone know what I might have done wrong? Is it time to call an electrician?

Not connected it up as it was before, would be a likely option.

Did you take photos of the before?

Did the new light have the same connections as the old one?

Whatever that means?
You cannot "turn a fuse on"
Possibly, you are referring to a MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker)

However, the new fitting I bought has less space for the wires compared to before, so I had to push wires into the ceiling a little a bit.

This is not allowed - by REGULATIONS.
A certain specific "Junction Box" type is required for this purpose.

"London to a Brick", you have not re-connected the Line (or Neutral) conductors properly.

If you have changed from such a Ceiling Rose to something else,
and not connected things correctly,
there is your problem.
