Hi

Iv'e built a shelf coming away from my window for a concealed cistern, the edge of the shelf is in line with the window.

I'm tiling the wall and wanted to get a nice neat join for the trim going down the window and coming out along the shelf.

As the trim is the opposite way round they don't meet each other properly.

The joins on the other corners look perfect using a mitre saw.

I've uploaded some pictures so you can see what i mean!

Anyone got any tips for getting a good looking join here??

It's a common mistake you've made largeee. Here's how you should be doing it.

You need to have the trim on the inside of the reveal, then make your cuts at 45° from the vertical. That means as you're holding the saw straight up, tilt it to one side. The end of the trim should remain square.
It's not easy to describe but hopefully you'll be able to follow the sketch.
Don't forget to post some pics when you've finished.

thanks for your help but then the trim doesn't match the trim going across the top of the window down the other side and across the bottom of the window.....

I've been playing with the stanley knife all day!!!! managed to get it looking nice.... will post a pic when its done!!!
